myBAS Johor Bahru Rebranded as BAS.MY Johor Bahru — A New Phase in Johor’s Public Transport Journey

JOHOR BAHRU, 3 November 2025: The public transport landscape in Johor Bahru enters a new phase with the rebranding of myBAS Johor Bahru to BAS.MY Johor Bahru, under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) initiative by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) as the implementing agency.

The historic launch will be officiated by YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport Malaysia, whose presence signifies the government’s continuous commitment to strengthening the public transport network and accessibility for the people of Johor.

This rebranding marks a modern, user-focused, and sustainable transformation of the bus service that has been operating in Johor Bahru since its inception. The transition from myBAS Johor Bahru to BAS.MY Johor Bahru aligns with the nation’s aspiration to modernize and standardize public transport branding—making it more recognizable, cohesive, and high-quality.

With this new branding, BAS.MY Johor Bahru will feature a vibrant bright pink design, symbolizing energy, inclusivity, and progress. The new look not only enhances visibility but also strengthens the identity of BAS.MY Johor Bahru across the city.

In conjunction with the launch, YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced a price reduction for the BAS.MY 30-Day Pass, available to Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 59. The pass now offers unlimited travel for 30 days at RM30, reduced from RM50 previously. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of commuters while encouraging greater public transport usage, particularly among the working population.

Additionally, free fares are offered to Persons with Disabilities (OKU), senior citizens, and school students through the BAS.MY Concession Card, which was recently expanded to include university and college students.

“In times of rising living costs, the Ministry remains committed to helping Malaysians reduce daily expenses through initiatives such as the BAS.MY 30-Day Pass and Concession Card,” said YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport Malaysia.

To promote sustainable travel, the operator of BAS.MY Johor Bahru, Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, has also introduced a ‘Park & Ride’ initiative, allowing passengers to park their vehicles at shopping malls such as Sutera Mall, Toppen Shopping Center, Aeon Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn, Mid Valley Southkey, and B5 Johor Street Mall before continuing their journey using BAS.MY Johor Bahru buses.

This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion in Johor Bahru’s city centre while offering commuters a more convenient and eco-friendly travel option.

Under the new SBST Johor Bahru Contract, approved by the Federal Government, the public bus service in Johor will undergo a major transformation with a RM134.9 million investment over two years (31 March 2025 – 30 March 2027).

Key service enhancements include:

  • Addition of 34 new buses, bringing the total fleet to 162 units.
  • Expansion of routes from 18 to 21, improving connectivity across Johor Bahru.
  • Increase in daily trips from 408 to 674, nearly doubling service frequency.

These upgrades are expected to benefit over 43,000 passengers daily, reducing waiting times and enhancing user comfort—particularly around Johor Bahru Sentral (JBS) and JB CIQ.

The new BAS.MY Johor Bahru fleet will also play a vital role in supporting both the Visit Johor Year 2026 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaigns. The expanded bus network will provide seamless connectivity for local and international tourists to major attractions, culinary destinations, shopping centres, and hotels across Johor—further boosting Johor Bahru’s appeal as a premier travel destination.

“This enhanced bus network not only benefits daily commuters but also supports Johor’s tourism growth by offering reliable and accessible transportation,” added YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

The rebranding launch will also feature community engagement activities and service exhibitions, reflecting BAS.MY Johor Bahru’s commitment to continuously improving public transport for everyone.

This new phase of stage bus service in Johor reflects the shared vision between the Ministry of Transport, APAD, and the Johor State Government—to create a modern, efficient, and people-centric transport ecosystem that supports sustainable growth and community well-being.
