How Much It Takes To Get Back Home To Malaysia and Singapore

Since the implementation of Circuit Breaker in Singapore and the Movement Control Order in Malaysia way back in April and March 2020 respectively, among the affected individuals are those who are working overseas who does a daily commute to cross the Causeway in Johor Bahru via the First Link or Second Link.

It’s been 9 months since Singapore and Malaysia continues to tighten the entry to both borders to minimized any possible spread of Covid19 Pandemic.

With the impact of this new normal, going back to Singapore or Malaysia via the Causeway (land transport) requires additional expenses to every traveler. A corresponding cost is required in order to follow the SOP of both government against the spread of Covid19.

As this New Year’s Eve come in place, more and more Malaysians or Singaporeans wants to go back home to celebrate the coming of new year with their family. Let’s find out how it takes to get back to Malaysia and Singapore.

 

Expenses To Malaysia

 

For PCA (Periodic Commuting Arrangement)

  1. Swab test                                          = RM150
  2. Hotel quarantine                            = RM450 (3 days)

(Home quarantine is allowed if you have your own house in Malaysia)

Estimated cost                                  = Between RM100 to RM650

 

For SPR (Singapore Permanent Resident) 

Option 1.

  1. Swab test in Malaysia                     = RM300 (2 * times)
  2. Hotel quarantine                             = RM1500 (10 days)

(subject to change based on room type)

Estimated cost                                     = RM1,800

Option 2.

  1. Swab test in Singapore                   = Estimated to SGD200
  2. Swab test in Malaysia                     = RM150
  3. Hotel quarantine                             = RM1050 (7 days)

(subject to change based on room type)

Estimated cost                                             = RM1,800

Note: Covid19 PCR test to be taken within 72 hours before entering Malaysia

Expenses To Singapore

 

For PCA (Periodic Commuting Arrangement) and SPR (Singapore Permanent) Residents

  1. Swab test in Malaysia =Estimated RM250
  2. Swab test in Sinagpore = SGD125
  3. Hotel quarantine (meals included) = SGD2000 (14 days)

Estimated cost                                              = RM6,625.00

Note: Covid19 PCR test to be taken within 72 hours before entering Singapore

In regards to the cross-border traveling, Singapore Health Ministry said that all travelers entering Singapore from 11:59pm by Nov 27 who have a travel history in the past 14 days to Malaysia will be required to take a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction test within 72 hours of departure.

The Health Ministry also said that a quarantine order also applies to travelers entering Singapore to work under the Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) and returning Singapore-based travelers under the Singapore – Malaysia Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL).

Amid to the increasing new cases of Covid19 infection in Malaysia, we urge the public to continue follow the required SOPs implemented by the government to ensure that we are all protected including the community around us.
