Handal Indah Showcased Public Safety on Public Transport during the “Safe Centro” Handover Ceremony at Iskandar Puteri

The Team of Handal Indah Sdn Bhd through the Department of Human Resources showcased the importance of safety in public transport during the Document Handover Ceremony for the upcoming “Safe Centro” in Iskandar Puteri.

EduCity Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd and DOE Training & Consultancy Today announced the establishment of ‘Safe Centro’ as an interactive Safety Education center in Iskandar Puteri on August 11, 2022, at EduCity, Puteri Iskandar.

This ceremony was witnessed by YB Datuk Haji Awang Bin Hashim, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Chairman of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and represented by prof. Dr. Sakina Sofia Baharom, EduCity Operations Director Iskandar and Datin Fauzirah Zainum, DOE Managing Director.

Handal Indah has also assisted 139 students and teachers from different schools such as SMK Damansara Aliff, SMK Sri Rahmat, and Netherlands Maritime University College (Kotaraya) to attend the workshops called “OSH in school” program by representatives from the DOE and Department of Occupation Safety and Health Malaysia (KKP).

Handal Indah team shared the different safety elements in public transport in the effort of the Company’s Safety Committee Team to strengthen public awareness about the different safety equipment available inside the bus. The team has also shared some basic demonstrations on how this equipment is used to ensure the students understand their functions as and when they need to apply when they are using public transport to get to their destination.

Meanwhile, -“Safe Centro”  is established with the aim of exposing students to the risks they face every day with demonstrations in a safe environment, the program offered will teach people how to deal with any risk through simulated learning. The methodology used in this center is to ensure that students understand the risk factors and use the skills learned to deal with the risk.

YB Datuk Haji Awang Bin Hashim, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Co-Chairman of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health said in his opening speech, “Each employer and employee in the school needs to play a role in applying the values of safe and healthy work culture practices.”

DOE Managing Director, Datin Fauzirah Zainum added, “Our hopes are high for safe centro, which has the vision to become the first Risk Plant in Malaysia and the first in Southeast Asia. Choosing Iskandar Puteri, Johor as the primary location, the program offered is based on four central cores: transport safety, self-awareness, basic safety knowledge, and building safety.

Handal Indah Sdn Bhd Safety team comprises of King Yann Pyng, Group HSSE officer, Mohd Rahimee Bin Zahari, and some members from the Department of Human Resources of Handal Indah Group of Companies (HIGC) with other Department such as the Operations, Training, and Marketing.
