Pasir Gudang, Johor – October 9–10, 2025: The team from Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, the appointed Network Operator for BAS.my Johor Bahru, successfully conducted a Kad Konsesi registration drive at UiTM Pasir Gudang during the university’s new student intake period for the current semester.

The two-day registration initiative received an encouraging response, with over 218 students successfully registered to enjoy unlimited free rides across all BAS.MY Johor Bahru bus services under the Konsesi programme.

The BAS.MY Konsesi initiative, a federal-level programme, enables eligible Malaysians to travel conveniently and affordably by providing free unlimited rides on all BAS.my Johor Bahru routes. This initiative helps students significantly reduce their travel expenses, especially for their daily commute between campus and surrounding areas.

“We’re pleased to see such a positive turnout from UiTM Pasir Gudang students. This initiative not only supports affordable mobility but also promotes the use of public transport among youth,” said by Ms Lim Chern Fang, The Chief Marketing Officer of HI Mobility Berhad.

“We welcome more universities to collaborate with us to bring the same benefit to their students.” She also added.

The registration drive also aligns with the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the public transport system in Johor Bahru. Under the SBST 1.5 contract approved by the federal government, public bus services will see a major upgrade beginning October 1, 2025. With an investment of RM134.9 million over a two-year period (March 31, 2025 – March 30, 2027), the initiative includes:

• The addition of 34 new buses, increasing the total fleet to 162 units.
• Expansion of routes from 18 to 21.
• An increase in daily trips from 408 to 674, nearly doubling service frequency.

This improvement is expected to serve over 43,000 passengers daily, reducing waiting times and enhancing comfort for commuters across Johor Bahru, especially around Johor Bahru Sentral (JBS) and CIQ.

The Konsesi programme is open to all Malaysian citizens under the following categories:

1. Students below 18 years old
2. Students above 18 years old (with valid student ID or Siswa Card)
3. Senior Citizens
4. Persons with Disabilities (OKU card holders)
