myBAS  Johor Bahru Art Competition

The mechanics, as well as the conditions stated below, shall govern the General terms and Conditions of the “myBAS  Johor Bahru Art Competition”. By participating in this campaign, participants shall be deemed to have understood and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions herewith.

 

TERMS

 

Participants are hereby considered as the students of those selected schools under this campaign together with public who submitted their interest online.  Participants can also be referred as the students or public who are “Passengers”, using myBAS Johor Bahru routes

The “Event Organiser” of this campaign is Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, the Network Operator (NO) of myBAS Johor Bahru services in Johor.

myBAS Johor Bahru” is consists of 19 routes to serve about 6.4 million passengers a year. This project is through the initiative of the Federal Government under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) through the facilitation of Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD).

myBAS Johor Bahru services will be serving “5 Corridors” in Johor which include Kota Tinggi, Masai, Kulai, Gelang Patah, and Pontian. A total of 128 buses will be used for this project consisting of diesel and electric vehicles.

myBAS50” is a product of Pas Transit myBAS that allows passengers to enjoy unlimited free ride for 30 days upon subscription using a valid MyKad.

“myBASKonsesi” is a product of Pas Transit myBAS that allows passengers to enjoy unlimited free ride for 365 days from the date of registration. This pass is only qualified to students below 17 years old, Person with disabilities, and senior Citizens.

LUGO App” is one of the partners of ManjaLink and Causeway Link for passengers to check their transaction history.

 

CONDITIONS

 

SECTION 1. ELIGIBILITY

 

  1. Participants must be a Malaysian Citizen
  2. Participants can be students in different levels and shall be endrosed by the selected participating school
  3. Participants for the public category shall only be qualified if they receive the confirmation letter from the event secretariat.

SECTION 2: RATIONALE

  1. Promote public transportation: Encourage participants to create engaging artwork that emphasize the advantages and positive impact of utilizing public transportation in Johor Bahru.
  2. Foster creativity and innovation: Provide a platform for students and the public participants to showcase their creative skills, storytelling abilities, and technical expertise in producing high-quality artworks in terms of drawing and painting.
  3. Enhance public awareness: Disseminate entry through various channels to reach a wider audience, educating the public about the benefits, accessibility, and convenience of public transportation in Johor focusing on myBAS Johor Bahru.

 

SECTION 3. CAMPAIGN CATEGORIES

  • Special Education Primary Category
    • Age between 7-15 years old
    • Must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
    • Must be a Malaysian
  • Special Education Secondary Category
    • Age between 13-18 years old
    • Must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
    • Must be a Malaysian
  • Primary Category
    • Age between 7-12 years old
    • Must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
    • Must be a Malaysian
  • Secondary Category
    • Age between 13-18 years old
    • Must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
    • Must be a Malaysian
  • Public Category
    • Age between 19 years old and above.
    • Must be a Malaysian

 

SECTION 4. EVENT MECHANICS

  1. Participants from Primary, Special education, and Secondary levels shall be endorsed by the selected school to join the competition.
  2. Each invited school is only limited to 5 participants. If the school has both Primary and special education class, they are allowed to send 3 participants per category.
  3. Participants from the Special Education Primary Category shall submit the outline of their entry within 5 working days before the actual competition.
    • Participants shall take a photo of their outline and submit to our event secretariat for filing. All outlet and or sketch shall not be colored.
    • The said outline shall be brought during the competition day for the participants to continue the artwork including finishing etc.
    • In the event that the secretariat found that the said sketch was not similar as to what has been submitted, the said entry will be automatically disqualified and the participant shall re-draw/ sketch his/ her entry following the 2-hours timeline.
  4. Interested participants from the Public Category will be screened out. Interested participants shall submit their name, contact details and at least one previous artwork as a proof of their interest in the competition. Only selected entries will be allowed to join the finale round.
  5. If a participant has a coach, they are allowed to be at the competition but not allowed to be beside the participant while the competition is ongoing.
  6. The painting / coloring / artwork execution will only be allowed for 2 hours. And it shall only be executed live.
  7. During the art competition session, participants are only allowed to have two breaks (ex.toilet break).
  8. The art competition from Primary Category and Special education primary level shall bear in mind the following:
    • Participants shall be using only the following equipment’s such as crayons, drawing pencils, pastels, charcoals, colored pencils, and carbon pencils etc.
    • This category is not allowed to use water colours, paintings, glitters, etc.
    • Each participant is only given 2 drawing board.
    • Participants shall bring their own art/drawing equipment’s like tables, erasers, sharpeners, rules etc. tissue, clothes, extra shirts since the resources is limited.
  9. The art competition from Secondary Category, Special Education Secondary Category, and Public Category shall bear in mind the following:
    • Each participant is given a blank canvas with size of 40 cm by 50 cm (landscape format).
    • Each participant is only allowed to complete their artwork within 2 hours.
    • Pre-made or any 3D effect is not allowed to be included in the artwork.
    • Participants shall bring their own art/drawing equipment’s like tables, erasers, sharpeners, rules, colour paintings, etc. since the resources is limited.
  10. The content shall highlight the benefits of public transportation in Johor (e.g., in tourism, employment, education). It should also showcase government’s initiative to reduce transportation expenses by introducing myBAS50 (unlimited monthly pass for 30 days on all myBAS Johor Bahru routes).
  11. All finished artwork will be kept by the organizer to be displayed for future events/ exhibitions. Each entry are required to indicate their own name and signature at the back of the artwork to identify the artist.
  12. Information about myBAS Johor Bahru & myBAS50 is available at https://www.causewaylink.com.my/mybas/.
  13. Any scenes depicting violence, drugs, racism, pornography, obscenity, discrimination, and the like will be automatically disqualified from the competition.
  14. The selection of winners is based on creativity, storytelling, technical quality, and adherence to the competition’s objectives.

 

SECTION 5. ARTWORK OUTPUTS

  1. All outputs are going to be scanned and photographed and shall be used by organiser to use for the promotion of myBAS Johor Bahru for online and offline campaign
  2. Participants’ Name and pages will be credited the post.
  3. The theme more on “Sustainable Public Transportation in Johor Bahru” which suggests a focus on creating artwork that explores and promotes environmentally friendly and efficient public transportation solutions in the city of Johor Bahru. Here are some potential ideas and concepts that artists might consider for this theme:
    • Green Transportation Modes: Explore different sustainable transportation modes such as electric buses, bicycles, or even futuristic transportation concepts. Showcase the benefits of these modes in terms of reduced carbon footprint and environmental impact.
    • Integration with Nature: Illustrate how public transportation systems can harmoniously coexist with nature and green spaces. Consider depicting green corridors, eco-friendly infrastructure, or designs that incorporate plants and trees into the transportation environment.
    • Community Engagement: Highlight the role of the community in supporting and using sustainable public transportation. Showcase diverse groups of people using eco-friendly modes of transit and engaging in community-oriented activities around transportation hubs.
  4. Innovation in Design: Explore innovative and sustainable design concepts for transportation infrastructure, such as solar-powered stations, energy-efficient lighting, or artistic elements that contribute to the aesthetics of the city.
  5. Benefits of Sustainable Transportation: Illustrate the positive impacts of sustainable public transportation on the city, such as reduced traffic congestion, improved air quality, and enhanced overall quality of life for residents.
  6. Cultural Integration: Blend cultural elements of Johor Bahru into the artwork to emphasize the local identity and how sustainable transportation can be seamlessly integrated into the cultural fabric of the city.
  7. Public Awareness: Consider creating art that raises awareness about the importance of sustainable transportation. This could include informative posters, infographics, or visually striking images that convey the message effectively.
  8. Technological Solutions: Showcase cutting-edge technologies and innovations in transportation that contribute to sustainability. This might include advancements in electric vehicles, smart transportation systems, or the use of renewable energy sources.

 

SECTION 6. SELECTION OF WINNERS

  • Originality: 35%

The entry must embody originality, standing out as a distinct and unique perspective within the competition. Highlighting the impact of sustainable public transportation in the region. The artwork should evoke a strong emotional response and shall show the reality that is happening based on current situation. A winning entry should introduce a fresh approach or interpretation of the subject matter, setting it apart from other submissions and capturing the attention of the audience.

 

  • Technical Mastery: 25%

Participants are encouraged to showcase their technical prowess by leveraging tools and techniques to elevate their artworks to new heights. The artwork should not only stand out visually but also impress viewers with a high level of techniques in drawing, painting or colouring. Moreover, the piece should effectively communicate the significance of public transportation through a well-arranged storyline, emphasizing its benefits and encouraging broader community utilization.

 

  • Creativity: 15%

The artwork should demonstrate creative ingenuity, transforming a simple subject into an engaging and captivating visual piece. Participants should exhibit a unique and imaginative approach to convey the importance of public transportation, using their creativity to tell a compelling and visually stimulating storyline through artworks.

 

  • Overall Quality: 15%

This refers to the overall quality of the entry, considering content tone, style, attention to detail, and presentation. The winning entry should exude a high level of professionalism and polish, reflecting a well-executed and refined piece of art.

 

  • Audience Impact: 10%

Entries should create a powerful impact on the audience by presenting a relatable and engaging story. Additionally, the entry should draw attention to intricate details within the artwork, ensuring viewers take notice and gain a deeper understanding of its nuanced elements.

    • Second Prize: RM300 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks
    • Third Prize: RM200 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks
  2. Special Education Category- Secondary Level
    • First Prize: R500 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks
    • Second Prize: RM300 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks
    • Third Prize: RM200 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks
  3. Primary Category
    • First Prize: R500 Cash + Trophy + Co-curricular marks

SECTION 8. DISQUALIFICATIONS

  1. We have assigned a dedicated coordinator for each category to diligently monitor and ensure fairness throughout the competition. In the event that a participant is found engaging in any form of cheating or disruptive behaviour towards other participants, a first warning will be issued. Warnings will be administered up to three times. Upon the fourth instance, the coordinator will have no choice but to disqualify the entry of the participant.
  2. Any act of bullying during the competition is strictly prohibited. If a participant is found guilty of engaging in such behaviour, an automatic disqualification from the competition will be enforced. We uphold a zero-tolerance policy to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants.

SECTION 9. DISCLAIMERS

  1. All participants shall behave and act professionally at all times.
  2. The Event Organiser, myBAS Johor Bahru management, its staff, partners, and the school administration shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage of life and property during this competition period.
  3. Participants are required to prioritise safety during and after the competition
  4. The organiser may contact the participants from time to time to validate their entries to be fair with other participants.
  5. In the event that a selected school cannot fulfil the minimum entry as stipulated by Section 4.b, the organise is then authorise to extend the remaining slot to other interested participating school.
  6. All output will solely own by the myBAS Johor Bahru for documentation and reporting purposes.
  7. If the participants forget his/ her artwork tools during the competition, he/she is allowed to exit but will still follow the 2 hours competition clock time.
  8. The organiser will have the right to cancel the selected winner if the entry has been subject for any violation (like fraud) during the competition after it has been awarded.

 

SECTION 10. AMENDMENT

  1. The Event Organiser reserves the right to cancel, change the campaign date and time without prior notice.
  2. These terms and conditions may be changed from time to time without advance notice.

 

SECTION 11. PRIVACY POLICY
